Founded in 2003 by Simon Booth, after he created a prototype in his little flat in Axbridge, Somerset, Kiddimoto is the UK's original Balance Bike company. They produce award winning balance bikes and all of the gear that goes with them, from helmets to gloves and even Ride-Ons and Walkers for little ones. Production began in 2004 in a workshop in Cheddar, where the Superbike and Scrambler Balance Bikes became the first off of the production line. Since then, a wide variety of different models of bike have been recreated and transformed into wooden and metal Balance Bikes, perfect for children. In 2006 Kiddimoto were awarded Hamley's One of a Kind Toy of the Year accolade and were very much beginning to create quite a fan following.
You may remember Kiddimoto from a 2011 episode of BBC's Dragons Den, where Simon Booth left the den with investment offers from two of the five Dragons. Since then Kiddimoto have received orders from all over the world and, in 2015, were awarded the Queen's Award for International Trade.

Balance Bikes look and feel pretty similar to an ordinary bicycle, however they are missing two key components - the pedals and the drivetrain (the bit that holds the chain in place). Balance Bikes have been designed as an alternative to stabilisers. Starting children on a balance bike instead of a set of stabilisers enables them to develop balance skills without having to pedal. Then, when they've mastered the balancing, they can quickly pick up the easy pedal motion and, before you know it, are off for a ride on their very own grown up bike! Children will have hours of fun pushing themselves along and when they get confident enough, you may even find them cruising along with their feet off of the ground. Athletes and Olympic Gold Medalists approve of using a balance bike instead of stabilisers or a tricycle, for more support and less cuts and bruises.
