ADAC Car Seat Test Results 2016
Every year, the ADAC (The German Automobile Club) carries out the most rigorous test in Europe to examine every minute detail of child and baby car seats. It scrutinises every aspect from safety from both front and side collisions, to ease of use and fitting. The tests by far exceeds European standards for car seats, so despite the fact that every car seat tested has been previously deemed safe and fit for use, the ADAC take the matter into their own hands, to give you all the information and best possible advice from every aspect.
ADAC tested 16 car seats overall, ranging through all age and size categories. 5 of the 16 were i-size standard, the new regulation for car seats, expected to take precedence over current regulations in the very near future. All the leading brands were examined, including Kiddy, BeSafe, Britax and Joie, to name a few.
All car seats were evaluated in terms of their safety, ergonomics, operation and pollutant content and then rated from very good to deficient, based on their performance in each category. The categories were weighted as follows to determine the overall score for each car seat: Safety 50% service 40% ergonomics 10%, harmful substances were also considered.
